How Salary Converts to an Hourly Rate

The standard conversion assumes 52 working weeks per year: hourly rate = annual salary ÷ (hours per week × 52). On a 40-hour week that's 2,080 hours a year, so a ₹9,00,000 annual salary equals about ₹433 per hour, and a $75,000 US salary equals about $36 per hour. Enter any figure — hourly, daily, weekly, monthly or annual — and this calculator fills in all the others, using your actual weekly hours.

Knowing your true hourly rate matters when comparing a salaried job against freelance or contract work, evaluating overtime, quoting client rates, or judging whether a job offer with longer hours actually pays more. A higher salary with a 55-hour week can easily be a lower hourly rate than a smaller salary at 40 hours — this tool makes that visible instantly.

Setting your freelance rate from a salary

Freelancers typically charge 1.5–2× the equivalent employee hourly rate to cover taxes, unpaid leave, equipment and non-billable time. So if your salary equates to ₹433/hour, a freelance rate of ₹650–850/hour is the like-for-like range. All conversions run in your browser — your salary figures are never uploaded.
