About the Password Generator

Generate strong, random passwords with control over length and character types — uppercase, lowercase, numbers and symbols. Passwords are created using your browser's built-in random generator and are never transmitted or stored anywhere.

Password length matters far more than complexity. A 16-character password of random letters is dramatically harder to crack than an 8-character one with symbols, because each added character multiplies the possibilities. Security researchers now recommend at least 12 characters, ideally 16+, for anything important. The classic advice to swap letters for symbols (P@ssw0rd) no longer helps — cracking software tries those substitutions first.

The real risk isn't a weak password, it's a reused one. When any website is breached, attackers try those same email-and-password pairs everywhere else, a technique called credential stuffing. Generate a unique password for every account and store them in a password manager rather than trying to memorise them.

Frequently Asked Questions

At least 12 characters for regular accounts and 16 or more for email, banking and anything holding personal data. Length beats complexity.
Yes — they use your browser’s cryptographically secure random generator, and nothing is sent over the internet or saved anywhere.
Never. One breached site exposes every account sharing that password. Use a unique password per account and a password manager to store them.
Current guidance says change them only if you suspect a breach. Forced regular changes tend to push people toward weaker, predictable variations.
